Photos from Yellowstone National Park
And so it begins
First stop: Fountain Paint Pot
Fumaroles, geysers, hot springs, and mudpots all in this area
Cool bubbling mud
The red spouter, a constantly boiling mud pit
I can’t remember what this one was
Very busy area of the park
Everything smelled bad here
This hot spring was huge
First view of the Grand Prismatic Spring
Had to wait in line for parking here
The photo behind the photo
Another little hot spring with a nice background
Excelsior Geyser Crater emptying into Firehole River
Busy trail to the Grand Prismatic Spring overlook
OMG so busy, can you find Shelby?
Nice shot! But we need to get rid of all those people
I bet you can’t guess where we are now
Just a few people here today
Its happening!!!
There it is!
Okay that’s cool I guess
Passed this while driving through the park
Yellowstone lake
Geothermal activity right in the lake
Funky underwater craters?
Another trail, another hot spring
The colors on the edge of a hot spring are caused by microscopic organisms called thermophiles
Off to the mud volcano area
The Dragon’s Mouth
Still not sure what a fumarole is
Awesome photo op with a bison right near a hot spring
Not sure where this was… Maybe the sizzling basin
Or maybe that’s the sizzling basin
Okay now this was an overlook in Hayden Valley
That is the Yellowstone river. I preferred this area of the park, away from the hot springs
Bald eagle spotting
Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
Upper falls view from Artists’ Point
This is the park’s namesake yellow stone
Roadside bison
Gibbon falls
Mountains were just average in Yellowstone, but still appreciated
Great sunset, there’s an elk or something out there too
Next day, this was taken at Obsidian Cliff so that must be Obsidian Creek
Woah, proceed with caution
We made eye contact
Not sure what this waterfall was called
Awesome canyon-side road and bridge
I really liked this area in the north of the park
Scenic views
Taking it all in
Hmm back to the smelly hot springs
This area is called Mammoth Hot Springs
Okay I actually did like this area, probably because it was less crowded
Cascading hot springs were cool to see
Very interesting colors
And better views of the surroundings here too
Very long boardwalks built over the whole area
So weird and funky
I was feeling pretty sick today, we both got colds this week
Still at mammoth hot springs
Not easy to get a photo here without people over there
I thought this rock looked like a person’s head with a long pointy forehead
Selfie near the Devil’s thumb
Driving through the north of the park now, thank goodness it was open after all the flooding.
Private bison viewing
We actually took pictures with this one
Bison are becoming a normal sight for us
Pretty good but I’ve seen better
Petrified tree
Haha they caged it in so it doesn’t run away
Just another view of the Yellowstone river
This is tower falls
Walked down to the Yellowstone river
We were sick and tired but I’m glad we did this short hike
Running out of things to say
Seriously why did I decide to caption all of these
We’ve got over 2000 pictures on the website already
Elk alert
Back to the canyon for some more views of the falls
This time we’re on the north side
More overlooks of the yellowstone river down below
Probably my favorite part of the park
I mean look at how nice that is
Proof we are taking these pictures ourselves and not just looking them up on google photos
Elk spotting in the valley with the monocular
Lots of people stopped on the road to see these bison but we just drove though
Another eagle! or the same one from yesterday?
Final stop: LeHardy Rapids
Might have to come back to this spot in the future
A quick little walk along the river
Water felt nice and refreshing
Trusty tripod pic
Would have been nice to see a bear fishing here, oh well
One last view of Yellowstone lake before leaving the park
Photos from Grand Teton National Park
Sleeping in a lodge parking lot tonight
Umm… Where are the mountains?
It would appear to be cloudy
Hm, well this won’t do
Jenny lake take 1
We’ll be back here tomorrow when it’s sunny
Still not bad despite the clouds
Driving up signal mountain summit road
Decent views to the east
Very distinct transitions from forest to prairie
Haha there are supposed to be huge mountains in the distance
Saw a bear next to the road
Well I guess the weather has been pretty good so far on the trip so one bad day is okay
Breakfast at Headwaters Lodge, a very nice wood cabin building
Okay next day… and it’s still cloudy
There I fixed it
Some famous barn or something
Some people got way to close to this bear
Luckily Shelby’s camera takes great zoom shots
Back to Jenny Lake
Much better today
So scenic
Still a few clouds though
Money shot
Not sure who Jenny is though
Last one at the lake
Obligatory car picture
They just seem to rise up vertically out of the valley
Very cool
Other Photos from Wyoming
Driving east across the state
Nice scenic drive
Very flat in the middle of the state
Park in Casper, making pasta for dinner
Funky rock plateaus
Woah what is that
Devils tower
We see a lot of the Devil’s stuff
Walking the trail around the tower
Haha Turkey staredown
Nice views from up here
As seen in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Tower twofie
We saw lots of prairie dogs here and at our next stops in South Dakota
