Photos from Yellowstone National Park

  • And so it begins
  • First stop: Fountain Paint Pot
  • Fumaroles, geysers, hot springs, and mudpots all in this area
  • Cool bubbling mud

  • I can’t remember what this one was
  • Very busy area of the park
  • Everything smelled bad here
  • This hot spring was huge

  • Okay now this was an overlook in Hayden Valley
  • That is the Yellowstone river. I preferred this area of the park, away from the hot springs

  • This is the park’s namesake yellow stone

  • Gibbon falls
  • Mountains were just average in Yellowstone, but still appreciated
  • Great sunset, there’s an elk or something out there too
  • Next day, this was taken at Obsidian Cliff so that must be Obsidian Creek
  • Woah, proceed with caution
  • We made eye contact
  • Not sure what this waterfall was called
  • Awesome canyon-side road and bridge
  • I really liked this area in the north of the park

  • Hmm back to the smelly hot springs
  • This area is called Mammoth Hot Springs
  • Okay I actually did like this area, probably because it was less crowded
  • Cascading hot springs were cool to see
  • Very interesting colors
  • And better views of the surroundings here too
  • Very long boardwalks built over the whole area
  • So weird and funky
  • I was feeling pretty sick today, we both got colds this week
  • Still at mammoth hot springs
  • Not easy to get a photo here without people over there
  • I thought this rock looked like a person’s head with a long pointy forehead

  • Driving through the north of the park now, thank goodness it was open after all the flooding.

  • We were sick and tired but I’m glad we did this short hike

  • Lots of people stopped on the road to see these bison but we just drove though

  • Final stop: LeHardy Rapids
  • Might have to come back to this spot in the future

  • Sleeping in a lodge parking lot tonight

  • Well I guess the weather has been pretty good so far on the trip so one bad day is okay
  • Breakfast at Headwaters Lodge, a very nice wood cabin building
  • Okay next day… and it’s still cloudy
  • There I fixed it
  • Some famous barn or something
  • Some people got way to close to this bear
  • Luckily Shelby’s camera takes great zoom shots
  • Back to Jenny Lake
  • Much better today
  • So scenic
  • Still a few clouds though

  • Not sure who Jenny is though

  • They just seem to rise up vertically out of the valley
