Billings and Bozeman
Yellowstone river in Montana I like trains I guess this rock is famous or something – Pompeys Pillar National Monument The train caught up and passed us! Racing the train across the state Two Moon Park in Billings Yellowstone River Where is the yellow stone? Not sure this sensor is accurate, but it was very hot Up on the cliff overlooking Billings Another day, another selfie 90 degrees and snowing! Wow so many fluff balls We got ourselves a present Testing out the new grill Making meat sauce and pasta Mmm, tasty! Cool shadow at the library Walking along the Yellowstone River We were eaten alive by mosquitos here 🙁 Watching planes land while eating lunch Cool helicopter flew right over us Zimmerman park and our first view of snowcapped mountains in the distance Cool cliffside paths Don’t fall! Helena and Missoula
Making dinner at a highway rest stop Cheeseburgers, Yum! Decent view over Helena, State Capitol of Montana Big storm rolled though Our spot for the night Hiking up Mt. Helena Oh cool a cave Looks like a peanut, or a sour patch kid Cave within a cave – Caveception Wow another great view Eat, sleep, hike, repeat! The steep and tiring trail up was worth it Hey look you can see where we slept Best thing about hiking? It’s free! Driving into the mountains now This could be interesting Wow cool Garnet ghost town Cute little log cabin This was a mine site Gold rush brought people here in the 1800s Iron pickaxe, like Minecraft in real life Tiny little miner’s house We got to use our national parks pass here Can I get you anything? Wow this person must have been rich. Their house had two rooms Each building had a little explanation Out house with three pits and no door?!? Reminds me of Lincoln Logs School house This Honeymoon cabin was leant to new couples before they got their own house The local saloon Funky flower things here Walking a trail to a mine Everything was abandoned in the mid 1900s Dirty car on a dirty road Nice view up on the hill Woah cows surprised us right next to the road Found a cool park with funky swings And a zip-line thing Fourth of July in Missoula Trying huckleberry ice cream, it was good Going to hike up to that ‘M’ 13 switchbacks up the hill! Made it! M for Missoula or Montana? View to the right View to the left Thought about watching fireworks from here but storm clouds were rolling in Happy 4th of July!
Glacier National Park
Alright let’s get started There are a lot of photos to get through Jackson glacier Beautiful day Starting the waterfall hike Saint Mary River First moose we’ve ever seen! Forest fire killed a lot of trees here At the first waterfall now Saint Mary Falls This was a busy trail Second falls now, a lot bigger Virginia Falls I approve We got very wet and cold here Down to the bottom for some more pictures Just taking it all in! One of my favorite shots from this park Look at all the dead trees Same moose as before The photo behind the photo Almost back to the car when we were stopped by a deer Might as well take some pictures We had to walk past it after waiting a while Finally got her to take the jacket off Saint Mary Lake, beautiful The photo behind the photo This is still the first day, no way I’ll be able to caption all of these A nice sitting rock Camping at Chewing Black Bones Campground on Blackfeet Indian Reservation Camping by the lake First fire and s’mores of the trip! Driving to another part of the park in the morning Another day, another trail Very colorful rocks in the river So many beautiful glacial lakes on this hike Picture perfect bench Hey somebody got a new hat This trail was very busy Who’s idea was it to caption all of these? Wow just wow Someone official looking said this was a golden eagle This was a slippery snow crossing Looks like a good spot for lunch Pointing out the good parts The first try didn’t work Got it on the second try though Cascading waterfalls So much awesome it doesn’t all fit in the frame This one is my favorite! Should have taken the elevator down Lots of red and blueish green rock There were lots of runoff crossings along the trails Free refills, nice One last look at Grinnell lake Nice to see some nice green foliage again after the plains of the Midwest Started pouring right after we got back Something here isn’t right Nice views from the campsite Awesome camp spot right in the park Off to a good start on this trail My, what big ears you have Haha, 7am and I’m making her pose for photos We are headed way over where all the snow is Nice morning sun shining on the cliffs The photo behind the photo Alpine flowers Action shot Obstruction ahead Had to move off the trail so it could pass Nice bridge over Parmesan falls Okay, the actual name is Ptarmigan That’s part of the continental divide behind me Woah lots of snow A river crossing We call this the technical portion Looks like we’re crossing the snow There’s the lake! The aptly named iceberg lake You want to go for a swim? Not easy to get the camera to stay up against a rock here Money shot Seriously why didn’t we bring our bathing suits? Umm do you remember where the trail was? Alright one more Okay seriously just one more Woah hang on what’s that! Big horn sheep! We could see and hear them butting heads Back across the river We have conquered the mountain These parks keep getting better and better Parmesan falls again Dang we have to walk all the way back now At least the sun decided to come out Some say they are still walking back to this day Nice! We got a bear just as we were leaving
