Who are we?
Just a couple of kids hoping to explore the world before settling down. Find out more here.
Why a Prius?
It’s actually a Prius V, slightly larger than the regular Prius. The car is large enough to sleep two in the back and it has good fuel economy. The Prius can also be left on all night to provide heat or air conditioning. This only runs the engine for a few minutes each hour. Read the main article here.
How long are you doing this?
We plan on traveling for at least a year, possibly as long as 14 months. We hope to visit all 48 contiguous states.
How do you shower?
We have nationwide memberships to Planet Fitness. These gyms are located across the country in all major cities.
Do you have a toilet?
Unfortunately, we didn’t have room to bring a portable toilet. We plan to sleep somewhere that at least has an outhouse or pit toilet available. We did bring a camp shovel just in case.
What do you eat?
We can cook meals on our gas camping stove and in our microwave. We also have a small car fridge to keep food fresh. This will be supplemented with restaurants and fast food. Fruit, granola bars, nuts, and canned food are also an option.
What do you do for power?
We have a Goal Zero 1000 Wh battery that powers our fridge, microwave, phones, computers, and anything else we need. This is recharged while driving the car.
How do you work?
We both have part-time, remote jobs that allow us to work from anywhere, even the car. We have unlimited cellphone plans that allow us to work without needing WiFi. We mostly plan to work from libraries and coffee shops.
Do you have a planned travel route?
Yes, we will weave back and forth across the States attempting to stay in a moderate temperature zone.
Any must-have destinations?
The West Coast and Pacific Ocean are high on the priority list. We also hope to visit several national parks.
How do you fit everything in the car?
We only have the necessities. There is a lot of room under the bed platform for clothes and food. We removed the spare tire and filled that space with camping gear. It’s a tight fit but we make it work.
What did you do with all your apartment stuff?
We got a storage unit and packed everything up before we left.
